Terms of Service

1. Agreement

These Terms govern access to and use of followerus.com, including its profile search, fake-follower reports, engagement-rate calculations, public profile pages, and editorial content.

Followerus is an independently operated free service based in Costa Rica.

By selecting the acceptance checkbox and submitting a request, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into this agreement.

3. Service

Followerus provides tools concerning publicly accessible Instagram profiles. The Service includes:

  • profile search;
  • display of third-party audience estimates;
  • mathematical engagement-rate calculations;
  • public engagement pages;
  • non-indexed fake-follower reports;
  • educational content.

Followerus is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, operated by, or acting on behalf of Instagram, Meta, or Apify.

4. Third-Party audience estimates

When a user submits a public Instagram identifier, Followerus sends it to a Third-Party API Provider made available through Apify. The Third-Party API returns Instagram-related information and a fake-follower estimate.

Followerus displays the returned estimate. Followerus does not independently calculate the fake-follower percentage, inspect individual followers, or verify that any follower is fake.

A statement that “Followerus found a Third-Party API estimate” means only that the value was returned through the Third-Party API. It does not mean Followerus independently detected, audited, investigated, verified, or established the estimate as fact.

Unless explicitly stated otherwise, the information is not received directly from an official Instagram or Meta API.

5. Engagement-rate calculations

Followerus calculates engagement rate using:

(average likes + average comments) ÷ follower count × 100

For username calculations, the numerical inputs may be returned by a Third-Party API. For manual calculations, the inputs are provided by the user.

Followerus applies the formula but does not independently verify that the inputs are accurate, complete, current, representative, organic, unique, or genuine.

The calculated rate does not verify audience authenticity, unique reach, impressions, conversions, sales, or campaign performance.

6. Instagram verification status

A “Verified” or “Verified on Instagram” badge means only that the Third-Party API reports that the profile is verified on Instagram.

It does not mean Followerus verified the person, account ownership, profile information, audience, followers, engagement, estimate, calculation, or any report conclusion.

7. No finding of wrongdoing

Fake, suspicious, inactive, automated, or irregular followers may appear without the Profile Owner’s knowledge or authorization. Possible causes include unsolicited bots, spam accounts, automated follows, unrelated third parties, compromised accounts, historical activity, and Instagram platform processes.

A result does not prove that the Profile Owner purchased followers, committed fraud, violated Instagram’s policies, or engaged in wrongdoing. Followerus does not determine cause, intent, knowledge, authorization, or legal responsibility.

8. Instagram responsibility

Instagram is an independent third-party platform outside Followerus’s control.

A Profile Owner’s responsibilities concerning account operation, credentials, security, and compliance arise between the Profile Owner and Instagram and under applicable law.

Followerus does not create, buy, sell, add, remove, direct, or control Instagram followers.

9. Public and indexed pages

Personal engagement-rate pages may be publicly accessible, indexed by search engines, and included in Followerus sitemaps.

Personal fake-follower reports remain publicly accessible through their URLs but are configured with noindex, follow and excluded from Followerus sitemaps.

Followerus cannot guarantee when an external search engine or archive will update or remove a previously indexed copy.

10. Informational purpose

Results are provided for general informational and research purposes only. Do not rely on a result as the sole basis for a hiring, contracting, pricing, reputational, legal, or financial decision.

Followerus is not a consumer reporting agency, and its reports are not consumer reports.

11. User responsibility

Users are responsible for interpreting, using, publishing, and distributing results. Users must not:

  • present an estimate as verified fact;
  • claim Followerus verified an audience;
  • accuse a Profile Owner of fraud based solely on a report;
  • remove the source or disclaimer when sharing;
  • harass, threaten, deceive, defame, or harm another person;
  • violate another person’s rights;
  • scrape, overload, disrupt, or reverse engineer the Service;
  • bypass rate limits;
  • use unauthorized automated access.

12. Corrections and removals

Affected people may request review, correction, clarification, removal, restriction, or de-indexing through the Profile Review Request page.

Followerus may correct, annotate, refresh, restrict, de-index, or remove a page.

Correction or removal does not constitute an admission that the original report was unlawful, defamatory, or inaccurate.

13. Third-party services

Followerus relies on third-party APIs, Apify, hosting providers, databases, and other infrastructure. Third-party services may be inaccurate, delayed, unavailable, modified, insecure, or discontinued.

Followerus does not control or guarantee third-party methodology, legality, availability, quality, completeness, or accuracy.

14. Disclaimer of warranties

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE AND ALL RESULTS, CALCULATIONS, REPORTS, AND PROFILE PAGES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.”

FOLLOWERUS DISCLAIMS WARRANTIES OF ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, COMPLETENESS, TIMELINESS, AVAILABILITY, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

FOLLOWERUS DOES NOT WARRANT THAT:

  • source data is accurate;
  • a Third-Party API estimate is correct;
  • any follower is actually fake or real;
  • any interaction is genuine;
  • engagement rate represents authentic engagement;
  • verification status is current;
  • a report relates to the correct person;
  • a calculation is free from input, software, sampling, or rounding errors;
  • the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free;
  • a result is suitable for a business decision.

15. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FOLLOWERUS AND ITS OPERATOR, CONTRACTORS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, PUNITIVE, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, LOST REVENUE, LOST DATA, LOST OPPORTUNITIES, CAMPAIGN LOSSES, OR REPUTATIONAL HARM.

FOLLOWERUS’S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO A USER WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF:

  • the amount paid by the user to Followerus during the preceding 12 months; or
  • US $100.

Nothing excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

16. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, users agree to indemnify and hold harmless Followerus, its operator, contractors, and service providers from third-party claims arising from:

  • misuse of the Service;
  • publication or distribution of a result;
  • presentation of an estimate as verified fact;
  • accusations against a Profile Owner;
  • breach of these Terms;
  • violation of law;
  • violation of another person’s rights.

17. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Costa Rica.

Except where mandatory law provides otherwise, proceedings concerning the Service must be brought in the competent courts located in San José, Costa Rica.

Followerus may update these Terms. The current version and last-updated date will be displayed on this page.
