Followerus Methodology and Data Sources

Followerus provides two different types of Instagram-related results: third-party audience estimates and mathematical engagement-rate calculations.

Third-party audience estimates

When a user submits a public Instagram username, Followerus sends the profile identifier to a Third-Party API Provider made available through Apify. The API returns Instagram-related profile information.

Followerus displays the returned fake-follower percentage. Followerus does not calculate the percentage, inspect individual followers, or independently verify whether any follower is fake.

The estimate may be inaccurate, incomplete, delayed, outdated, or affected by the Third-Party API provider’s methodology and available source data. It does not identify why suspicious followers appeared or prove that the Profile Owner purchased followers or engaged in wrongdoing.

Engagement-rate calculation

Followerus calculates engagement rate using:

Engagement rate = (average likes + average comments) ÷ follower count × 100

The numerical inputs may be returned by a Third-Party API or entered manually by a user. Followerus applies the formula but does not independently verify that the inputs or interactions are genuine, current, complete, organic, unique, or representative.

Engagement rate does not measure unique reach, impressions, conversions, sales, audience sentiment, or guaranteed campaign performance.

Instagram verification status

The “Verified” badge means only that the Third-Party API Provider reports the profile as verified on Instagram. It does not mean that Followerus verified the profile, its audience, its engagement, or any report result.

Corrections and removals

A Profile Owner or authorized representative may request review, correction, clarification, removal, or de-indexing through the Profile Review Request page.
